The ‘Illumine’ series that I started painting in 2020 was in the wake of the Covid 19 pandemic. This transformational period inspired the series which underscores the need for light and hope, when there was darkness and despair. Personally, light has always been a metaphor of hope. The bright colours and the layers of paint that I used represent the miracles being born out of patience enforced on all of us
by the lockdowns and isolation. The oval canvases represent the shape of birth and time. The gentle ovaline curves were as comforting and nurtur-ing as an egg is to its little hatchling. In my constant search

for optimism and channeling my energies forward I found these bright bursts of radiant multi hues therapeutic and immensely joyful.
